planning the second birthday party!

Mommy decided that she hated all the ready-to-mail birthday card invitations in the Hallmark store this year, so she decided to go to an arts and crafts store and make Sophie some birthday cards. Mommy was very proud of the cards despite the minimal amount of effort involved, so she is posting for everyone to see. Mom's a goofball!

Cousin Naomi's Second Birthday

Sophie had a pretty busy weekend. First, she went to the mall with mommy and daddy and got to wander around and play in one of the indoor playgrounds, then she got to help mommy and daddy with the weekend cleaning.

Then, she got to go see Cousin Naomi and help celebrate her second birthday. Unfortunately, Mommy and Daddy forgot to bring Naomi's birthday present with them (and almost the suitcase too!), so Sophie wasn't able to see Naomi open her present, but she got to see all the other cool gifts.

Sophie had lots of fun chasing Naomi and making many attempts to hug and kiss her. She also got to practice treating Naomi like the babies at daycare.

Sophie also got to see her Aunts and Uncles. She was very excited about this, especially about seeing Aunt Layla (yes, the Bernese Mountain dog) and Uncle Mike, who she referred to after-the-fact as a monkey (sorry, Mike).

What a year!

We can't believe how much Sophie has grown up over the last year. She's gone from being a beautiful baby to a beautiful little girl (with lots more hair!). We had some more professional photos taken this weekend:

Sesame Street Live

Oh boy, did we have a great time at Sesame Street Live. Mommy got us great seats so we could see all the monsters really well with no one in front of us. They had all our favorite monsters, like "Melmo", Zoe, Bert and Ernie, Oscar ("Oscow"), Telly, And Grover ("Grovow").



They did all sorts of great dances, and sang a bunch of songs that I knew. Every time Elmo wasn't on stage, I said"Where Melmo go? Oh no! No melmo!" until he came back on stage.

At one point, Bert came out and did a very rousing impersonation of John Travolta:



We were mesmerized the whole night, and pretty much looked like this when we weren't clapping or shouting for Elmo:

Busy week!

So, we had a very busy week. First, we went to New Rochelle where I was hugged and kissed ALOT by my cousin, Naomi. We also got to see all our aunts and uncles, but really, we only paid attention to Naomi. Then, we went to go see mommy's friends, the Fruchtmans. The one I know as "Mer" was very nice, but I really liked her sister Diane because she kept letting me play with her camera.

I also had a lot of fun at Grams' house because she let me try on all of her jewelry. I really like jewelry, especially the shiny stuff with large gemstones in it.

For New Year's I got to hang out with my friend Alex, his Mommy and her friends. I had a lot of fun and ate lots of chocolatey things. Mommy was afraid I would have a tummy ache. But, she also thought it was cute when I had a chocolate-induced goatee.

Mommy is celebrating her 29th birthday today. Grams and Gramps sent Mommy an edible bouquet with lots of chocolate-covered fruit. I enjoyed it alot.

Mommy also went out and had her hair cut. Daddy likes it a lot. Yay, everyone is happy!

Christmas time at the grandparents

Tonight we went over to Papa and Gramma's house for christmas dinner and presents. They had a really cool tree with lots of neat decorations on it, and it also came with one live kitty at its base most of the night.



I immediately found the toys that papa and gramma keep for us grandkids and spread them out all over the floor.

I also got play with my cousin Miranda - she's really fun and likes to play chase and hide and seek. We chased each other around the house probably for about a bazillion hours, and we were both not ready for sleepy even though it was late!

This year was the first year I got to open presents all by myself - daddy would tell me to pull on the wrapping paper, and I got to tear it all off without getting in trouble! One of my presents was a cool jack in a box. You turn this thing and it plays music and then the lid pops open and then daddy gets scared. I'm not sure why it scared him so much - the clown looks very nice and friendly! The clown even told me that everything floats in the box, which sounds like lots of fun!

We all had a great time at my grandparents' house. After, we got to go home and celebrate the 5th night of hanukkah by lighting more candles, singing, and then opening even more presents!
