Off to Church we go!

On Thursday, Sophia and Liz went to visit with Dave Church and his family. Liz has known Dave since she was about 7 years-old when he became her clarinet, and later, her saxophone teacher. He's one of her oldest friends. Sophia had a really good time while at the Church's and barely cried at all! She got to meet lots of nice new people (Dave, his wife Astrid, and their two sons, Harley and Jordan), meet two nice new doggies (Bella and Gracie), and got to go for a walk through her first forest!

After Sophia's visit to the Church's pad, she went to visit Grams and Gramps at their second house in Carmel, NY. There, she went swimming and almost enjoyed it. Alas, maybe next time she will actually smile went placed in a swimming pool.

Take That, Sophie!

Sophia and Naomi tried to play with one another yesterday. Unfortunately, it sort of became a baby wrestling event.

Gramps' 60th Birthday

Sophia went to her first fancy party on Sunday to celebrate her Gramps' 60th birthday. Although she was generally unhappy at the party (there was lots of crying and screaming...a lot of Liz thinking "thank god everyone thinks you are cute and therefore you are not annoying the patrons"), by the time we came home, Sophia was happy-go-lucky again and suddenly realized that she liked her party dress and most importantly, that she loved her Gramps.

Over the weekend, she also got to spend lots of time with her Uncle Mike. However, Liz's camera died and she was unable to get some quality photos of Uncle Mike with his niece for only the second time!

Sophia's First time with Solids

This is a video of Sophia's first time trying "solid" food. Her second time occurred a few minutes later with a substitute of pear nectar for the fluid (instead of her nasty-ass formula). It went MUCH better! But, there can only be one first time...

Burning Down the House

Sophie got to meet her first firemen and see her first fire trucks today. yay! Unfortunately, it was because Liz was trying to sautee some garlic for a bolognese sauce and created what can only be referred to as a mini-L.A. in her parent's kitchen. Everyone was fine and the firemen thought Sophie was very cute. Liz happened to think one of the firemen (naturally the young one with all the muscles) was very cute. So, it worked out well for everyone. Also, Liz's bolognese turned out very tasty.

Also, Sophie got her first exersaucer and playmat yesterday from the toy store. She's been enjoying them both; but, perhaps she needs to concentrate a little less carefully on some of the toys.

It's the East side, baby!

Sophia and Liz have been on the East coast since early Thursday morning. Sophia seems to have taken to the East despite the oppressive humidity. For instance, she let Liz take her on a walk to the local Starbucks by not crying at all during the walk (versus crying the whole way as she would have in Albuquerque). Sophia also has had numerous play-dates with her cousin, Naomi, and she got to enjoy a sleep-over at Grams' and Gramps' house without Liz (Liz was in Boston house hunting and taking two horrible teacher certification exams).

I can has house now please?

So, our offer was accepted on a house in North Chelmsford, MA. It's about 45 minutes from my office near Boston, 31 miles northwest of Boston itself. Nice one story house with really well done interior.

Closing date is September 14th.

We're so excited and keeping our fingers crossed!

4 month appointment

We had our 4 month appointment today, and we were little Miss Grumpypants the whole time. Not happy.

We currently weigh 14 lb 12 oz, and are 25 inches long, putting us in the 75th percentile for height and weight. Her head circumference is 42 centimeters, which puts her in the 7oth percentile for her cute little head.

Strange men

Uncle Yuichi came over this weekend. We did not like Uncle Yuichi at all. Within 0.25 seconds of being put in his lap, we started crying hysterically.

Mommy and Daddy thought it was hilarious!
