A Good Memorial Day

Sophie had a great day today! First, she got to sleep in until 8:24 am (when she woke up all on her own!). Then, she ate breakfast, got dressed, and went with Mommy and Daddy to see her very first parade. Mommy and Daddy kept telling her to pay attention to the Marching Band because she was going to be in it one day, but she just liked looking at all the girl scouts and boy scouts who were throwing candy and handing out mini-American flags. Later, she went home, ate lots of lunch and snacks and got to play outside for a long time. Mommy was scared Sophie had a sun-burn because she came in-doors looking red, but it turned out she was just flushed all over and her sunblock and sunscreen worked (yay!). Then, Sophie took a shortish nap, ate more snacks, and headed to the North Shore with Mommy and Daddy for some tasty seafood. It was very windy at the North Shore, but Sophie was very brave and only snuggled into Mommy when she got scared. Once inside the seafood stand, Sophie did not want to eat the seafood, so instead she ate lots of Mommy's fries. Afterwards, Sophie got to see two doggies that reminded her of two of her doggies: a very large Bernese Mountain dog that looked like her Grams' Layla (but bigger and skinnier) and an older Golden Retriever that looked a lot like her big brother Hunter, only with an almost entirely white face! Finally, Sophie was palced in her carseat for the ride home and promptly fell asleep.
When she came home, Mommy gave her snacks, a bath, lots of playtime, and finally bedtime with her best friend, Mel (her miniature stuffed lamb blankie). Sophie will have lots to tell the daycare crew tomorrow!

Evan's 3rd Birthday

Sophie went to Evan's 3rd birthday party today. Mommy had to stay home because she got a stomach flu, so Daddy took Sophie all by himself! Sophie had a great time! She played in a sand box, made a mickey mouse hat to show Mommy, and had fun with all the big kids at Evan's party. And, when she came home, she ate lots of food because she was too excited at the party to eat!

one of the butterflies at the butterfly place

Sophie and Mommy went to the Butterfly Place in Westford, MA today, foolishly thinking it would not be busy at 10 AM on a Tuesday....unfortunately, a few elementary schools decided to drop by. Nonetheless, Mommy and Sophie got to see many beautiful butterflies, lots of pretty flowers, a few flightless fowl (Mommy could not read the sign that designated the species since there were too many small children in the way) and even a few coy in a tiny fish pond. Sophie really liked it, especially the part where the butterflies fly all over the place right and even right in front of one's face! She also liked seeing all the kids there, even if they did make Mommy feel a bit clausterphobic (spoken by a woman who has been in some VERY narrow caves..i.e., a secondary burial cave dating to the Neolithic at the Atapuerca complex that involved essentially falling down a pit about the same diameter as Mommy's body).

afterwards, in the parking lot, commemorating that we were actually at The Butterfly Place

Sophie's Second Mother's Day

Sophie used Daddy's credit card to buy Mommy flowers for Mother's Day. The card even said "to Mamamamamamamamama". She is such a sweet and thoughtful girl!

To thank her, Mommy gave Sophie a mini Strawberry Shortcake. She enjoyed it greatly. Mommy regrets not putting even MORE whip cream on it so that she could have been the silly, sticky mess that she was at her first birthday!

Twains

We went to the Acton children's museum this weekend, and it was a lot of fun. We played with a train set, and romped around the safari room, crawling a lot and generally having a good time!

Brooooooom!

The whole family went down to New Rochelle last weekend. Although much fun was had celebrating a late passover and such, the most fun and nausea was experienced by Daddy who got to go for a ride in Gramps' Lotus Elise...let's just say Gramps has a taste for speed!
