Sophie's 2nd birthday (parte deux)

Sophie waiting for all the guests

Oh boy, guests and presents!

it was a full house that day

So, last weekend, sophie celebrated her 2nd birthday with ALL of her friends. The house was filled with lots of kids and their parents. It was a really good time had by all. Sophie spent most of it wandering frm room to room in a silent awe at the number of people in our home. She was pretty smiley and happy in the end. We were also very proud of her because she knew how to blow out her birthday cake candles (when the time came). However, Mommy and Daddy gave Sophie some help anyway.

Later in the day, Sophie also got to celebrate a beautiful baby naming. We had some friends and our families over to our home where an officiant presided over th short ceremony to give her a name. There was lots of singing and playing with cousin, Naomi.

With all the excitement, Sophie did not have a chance to open presents on her birthday, so she has been opening one or two a dad all week. She really like presents now!

Yay, we're 2 (part 1)! ! !

Sophie celebrated her second birthday this Monday. She had a great day! She went to daycare where she had lots of fun with her friends. Then, Mommy came to get her and we went home and watched tv and played with our toys. Then, Daddy came home early from work and played play dough with Sophie while Mommy made dinner for everyone. Finally, Sophie got to prepare for her birthday cake. While waiting for Mama and Dada to get the cake ready, she practiced blowing out her candles. When the cake was finally ready, Sophie did a great job blowing out her candles, it only took 3 tries!

On Friday, Sophie went to the doctor for her first year appointment. She was the bravest Mama had ever seen her. She only cried once, when the doctor laid her on her back to check her tummy. She spoke with the doctor and showed the doctor on her hand how old she was. She even went "ahh" for the doctor when it was time to check in her mouth! She gave the doctor lots of high fives too. It turns out Sophie did not need any shots, but she did have to give a little blood for her iron and lead check, but she didn't even wince. What a brave girl! Afterwards, Mama got Sophie a small ice cream sundae for being so brave. This made Sophie happy.

So, at age 2, Sophie is 34.5 inchs tall, which puts her in the 65th percentile for height, she is 29.5 pounds, which puts her around 81st percentile for weight, and she has a 50.7 cm head, which was off the charts for her head. Her BMI is 17.6 percent which means she is super healthy for a 2 year-old. Yay Sophie! Mama used about.com's growth chart calculator (in case anyone is interested).

Sophie looks forward to her big birthday bash next week and to her "Yay, we're 2 (part 2)" blog entry.

Hijinks and Hamentashen

Sophie had fun today at our second Purim festival ever! She probably doesn't remember the first one so much, since she wasn't even 1, but she sure enjoyed this one. She got to consume mass quantities of hamentashen, and participate in games of chance, which she found to be addictively delightful. She one lots of tickets at the bean bag toss and the jar toss, which netted her some sweet bracelets and slinkies. She also got to see Crazy Davy the magician do a special show just for Sophie. Crazy Davy's alter ego is also the drummer in the band daddy plays in. We talked to the Rabbi for a bit, who was very excited to see Sophie as a tulip fairy. We saw some of our friends from Tot Shabbat, which was great. She also saw her babysitter Julia, who was staffing the hula hoop contest like a pro.

A Girl in Motion

I went to perpetual motion during the February vacation week to hang out with my friend, Matteo. We had lots of fun playing in the sandbox, playing on the giant choo-choo train and going for a swing ride....well, really I only enjoyed the swing ride for a few minutes and then I kept telling Mommy "all done", but it seemed to take her more than a second to respond. Mommy really needs to step up her reaction times.

This past weekend I went with my Mommy and Daddy to the Museum of Science again. I had a great time. I know where everything I like is now. I like taking Mommy and Daddy through the museum to see all the stuffed animals, the butterflies, the mythical creatures exhibit and now the new frog exhibit. It was lots of fun!

Daddy has a birthday

Daddy celebrated another birthday almost two weeks ago. We celebrated at home first where Daddy, Mommy and I got to eat a lot os ice cream cake. We later celebrated with Papa and Grandma too. Daddy got a great big picture of me for his birthday and will soon also have some fancy helicopters to fly around his office and buzz people with. I wish I could take them with me to daycare...
